I started out my career in design at the age of 5, as I practiced my cursive letters over and over and over, wanting to get them just perfect. Following my love for penmanship I took my creative passions to the canvas and took 8 years of private lessons in oil painting. I entered local art contests and won several awards for my work. Since I loved art, I had to find a way to make money at it. That's when I found graphic design. I went to college at the Art Institute of Dallas and studied Visual Communications.
I started my career in the printing industry and learned so much! It's important for a designer to understand printing. You have to understand what is cost effective and what is cost prohibitive for each client's projects. I've done just about everything in the print shop so I understand this process. I can offer suggestions on paper, unique folds and eye catching die cuts.
I worked for several companies in the DFW area before finding my current day job as Creative Director, where I have been for 18 years. I work daily on marketing campaigns, amenity packages for clients and very closely with sales to create collateral in line with our company messaging and goals.
Concurrently, I run FireSky Designs, my freelance graphic design/art business....which is why you are here! I create one of a kind custom invitations, brochures, newsletters, logos, packaging and anything you may need. I am also a commissioned painter in my home art studio and work mostly with acrylics and multi-media. I constantly work to update my skills. I keep up with current design trends, study new software packages and learn new techniques so that I can give my clients the best product possible. I can take your simple idea and follow it all the way to the printed piece. With my printing and distribution channels, I can get preferred pricing to keep your project on budget. I pride myself on quick turn-around and 100% on time delivery.
